WAYNESVILLE, Mo. (KSDK) - The National Weather Service has issued a Flash Flood Emergency for Waynesville and Fort Leonard Wood.

Heavy rainfall early this morning has droppedseveral inches of rain over parts of Pulaski and Texas counties in Missouri.

Emergency management reports several homes flooded in downtown Waynesville with additional flooding and rescues near Waynesville Middle School. Fast flowing water a foot deep is flowing over Interstate 44 between mile marker 144 and 145 as of4:30 this morning. At one point, a rescue boat capsized in the flood water putting rescue personel into the swift flowing water. They are safe now.

Numerous roads are reported flooded at Fort Leonard Wood.

Additional storms may drop another one to three inches of rain before diminishing later this morning.
