ST. LOUIS (KSDK) - The NFL has a new rule for the 2013-2014 football season.
When you walk into the Edward Jones Dome to cheer on your St. Louis Rams, you are only allowed to bring a bag (clear, plastic, vinyl or PVC) that does not exceed 12" x 6" x 12", or all of your items must fit in this NFL approved clear bag (pictured). Those clear tote bags will be sold at every team store in the league and online. One-gallon freezer bags will also be acceptable.
Ladies, this means feminine hygiene products and all. Men say they don't want to see them and women say they don't necessarily want to show them.
The NFL says it's for safety reasons but we asked the question, "How many women were a part of the decision making process to approve this bag?"
The new policy also states small clutch bags, the size of hand, can be taken into the stadium with one of the clear plastic bags.
According to the NFL 35% of those who attend games are women. So how many women were consulted for this decision? It was a committee of eight that included one woman. Then a focus group of500 reviewed theplastic tote. 350of the 500 were women according to NFL spokesman Brian McCarthy. He says the topic of feminine Hygiene products did come up.
The head of the St. Louis Ram's Security, Steve Miller predicts other sports will follow the NFL's lead. Miller said, " We want to make it safe. The NFL is always a leader in everything we do. It's the most popular sport in our country and we see representatives from major league baseball andtheNBA that attend our league meetings, I'm sure in the future you are going to see those other sports and other venues go to these policies."
