BRIDGETON, Mo. (KSDK) - Bridgeton police are investigating an attempted abduction.

The incident happened around 8 a.m. Wednesday in the 4100 block of Muro Lane when a fourth grade girl was approached by a man driving a white van.

Police say the girl told them the man pulled over and asked her to help him find his cell phone in his van. The girl refused and continued walking, at which point the man got out the van and grabber her.

The girl was able to escape and the man drove away in his van.

The suspect is described as a white male around the age of 40, standing between 5'9" and 6'0", with brown hair and possibly brown eyes. He has a tattoo on the upper side of his right forearm. The man was last seen wearing a camouflaged jacket or shirt, black pants, and a black baseball hat.

Investigators said there is no evidence linking this incident to reports in Ellisville of a woman in a white vanapproaching children at bus stops.
