ST. LOUIS COUNTY, Mo. (KSDK) - A social studies teacher at Rockwood Summit High School has been named the top educator in the state.
Jamie Manker, the Rockwood School District Teacher of the Year, was selected Missouri Teacher of the Year by the state department of education.
"(Manker) embodies all of the characteristics of a quality educator," said Rockwood Summit Principal Renee Trotier. "She works hard. She's thoughtful. She's knowledgeable. She's collaborative. Most importantly, she treats her students with great respect. We're very proud of her!"
Manker, who holds a bachelor's degree in History and a master's degree in Education from Truman State University, earned National Board Certification in 2009.
Manker will now compete in the National Teacher of the Year program.
