ST. LOUIS (KSDK) - At five feet tall she can barely see over the racks, but Patti Shyne certainly knows what she's looking for and what she isn't.

"I love these striped dresses and then just add a colored blazer over it," said Shyne.

It's what she does for a living, and for the last ten years she's flown into St. Louis from Denver twice a year to shop with all of us.

"My goal is to work with the talent on their appearance, their total appearance so that's hair, that's make-up, that's clothes, but also to help educate what is new, what is trending and what's relevant for the season coming up," said Shyne.

It's not always pretty. Not the clothes, but rather the process.

"Try it on, try it on, try it on," said Shyne.

"That's the thing, I never think I'll like it on, and then I do, sometimes," said NewsChannel 5 anchor Kelly Jackson.

"Sometimes what I like to do is push someone's buttons just a little bit just to think out of the box," said Shyne.

It is a masterful game of give and take.

"I kind of get a pretty good idea after we start talking what kind of person they are and what they like and don't like," said Shyne.

She also has to work within everyone's budget.

"So whether we shop at TJ Maxx or we shop at Nordstrom or Target or the Rack or Saks we run the gamut," she said.

Most of the time we are running to keep up with her.

"She's just like a little rabbit looking for food," said Jackson.

And once our hour or two with her are up, hopefully we're a little wiser about what's hot and what's not.
