Manchester, N.H. (NECN) - The toes, skin color, and contour of Heather Abbott's new prosthetic foot make it hard to distinguish from nature's own.

Abbott, an active executive and Boston Marathon bombing survivor, is still walking gingerly, but tall and stately as ever on phase one of her new lifelike prosthetic at Next Step Bionics and Prosthetics in Manchester, New Hampshire.

It's a process, and she's learning patience.

"You're not going to get there right away. so, when I first got my initial leg, it was really big and really bulky and it hurt a lot to put on and I couldn't walk at all," she says.
