EAST ST. LOUIS, Ill. (KSDK) - We have a traffic alert for Metro East drivers.
A stretch of eastbound Interstate 64 will be shut down for nine days starting this weekend.
At 9 p.m. Friday, the interstate will be closed from the I-55/I-70 split to 25th Street in East St. Louis to allow crews to rebuild ramps and repave the road.
IDOT says drivers should expect major delays while work is going on. You may even want to consider changing your work schedule if that's an option.
The detour will re-route drivers up I-55-70 to Interstate 255 south. Side streets in East St. Louis will also be accessible.
The highway is slated to reopen Monday, Sept. 23.
