ST. CHARLES, Mo. (KSDK) - Charges have been filed against a St. Charles man accused of shooting a neighbor's carafter his home was toilet papered by teens from a local high school.

Daniel W. Beauchamp is charged with three counts of unlawful use of a weapon.

Det. Sgt. Todd Wilson with the St. Charles Police Department says shortly before 11:30 p.m. Sunday Beauchamp's wife told him she heard voices outside their home in the 1300 block of Edinburgh Drive. When she looked outside, she saw severalteens with toilet paper in their yard.

Beauchamp's wife knocked on the window, and theteens from St.Charles West High Schoolran back to their vehicles.

Police say Beauchampgrabbed a shotgun and went outside, pointed the gun at the teens' car, but did not fire.

At the same time, a61-year-old neighbor, her 64-year-old sister, and 26-year-old foreign exchange student were coming home when they saw Beauchamp standing in the street. They said he was waving his arms, trying to get her to stop. She said when she saw the gun, she tried to drive around him.

The woman told officers Beauchamp hit her car with his hand, yelled, and as she went around him she heard a loud "pop." The woman drove into her garage, and noticed her left front tire had been shot with a round fired from the shotgun.

Police say Beauchamp admitted to shooting at the vehicle, thinking it was the teens returning. He is currently held at the St. Charles City Jail on a $20,000 bond.

According to police, anyone caught toilet papering someone's yard can face trespassing charges. There's no word yet if the teens will be charged.
