EAST ST. LOUIS, Ill. (KSDK) - Men and women are taking a stand against domestic violence in the Metro East Tuesday night.

The Illinois Family Violence Prevention Center planned a peace vigil at Malcolm Martin Park in East St. Louis. State's Attorney Brendan Kelly and East St. Louis Mayor Alvin Parks attended the event.

"A lot of people don't understand what domestic violence is. A lot of people live in domestic violence and they don't label it as domestic violence. It's just the way they've lived," said Darlene Jones.

The Violence Prevention Center has a 24 hour hotline. You can call it at 618-235-0892.
