CARLINVILLE, Ill. (KSDK) - Two men are in custody after police found two active methamphetamine labs near a shed in Carlinville.

Police approached a home at 510 Orange Street on Tuesday afternoon as part of an ongoing investigation to do a "knock and talk." When the officers approached, a subject ran toward the shed in the back of the property.

After smelling a distinct chemical odor, they entered the shed and found meth precursors. The homeowner gave authorities permission to search the shed, and during the search, two active meth labs were found.

Jesse Shaw, 56, and Ronald Chapman, 24, have been charged with meth manufacturing, possession of meth precursors and possession of meth-making material. Both are currently being held in the Macoupin County Jail on a $75,000 bond.
