ST. LOUIS (KSDK) - Market Street has reopened after being closed between 15th and 16th Streets as police investigated a tip regarding a suspicious package.
The bomb squad did a controlled detonation Thursday morning and foundelectronic equipment (a computer or television), according to the St. Louis Metropolitan Police Department.
St. Louis Police Chief Sam Dotson said officers were alerted just before 8 a.m. abouta cardboardbox located near 16th and Market streets. The box had been taped "very precisely" and drew officers' concern.
The local bomb and arson squad was contacted, which conducted an x-ray of the package, the results of which were inconclusive. Per protocol, authorities detonated the box.
Dotson said there was no threat and the public was never in any danger.
Market Street was reopened to traffic by 10:20 a.m.
