ST. LOUIS (KSDK) - Getting to know your neighbor in the city of St. Louis will get even easier with the launch of Nextdoor.com.
St. Louis officials announced the introduction of the private social network at a press conference in Clifton Heights Park Wednesday morning.
Nextdoor.com will allow easier communications between neighbors, and each neighbor must verify their address to verify they live in the vicinity, according to the website. Through the website or a mobile app, residents can ask questions, make recommendations and get advice from their neighbors about the area.
They can also post about neighborhood watch meetings, school activities, lost pets and more. Lewis Reed, president of the Board of Aldermen said that he hopes to integrate city departments and other functions into the NextDoor application.
More than 19,000 neighborhoods across the country use the social network. The city of St. Louis has more than 5,000 residents in 70 neighborhoods using the site already, Reed said.
