HOLT, Mo. (KSHB/CNN) - After his 19-month-old daughter was found dead in a pond, a Missouri man wants answers.
Josslyn Crawford was the light of Joshua Crawford's life.
"She had the greatest smile. She had the greatest personality. I can't believe she's gone," said Joshua.
Josslyn normally stayed with her father, but he decided to give her mother a second chance for a few days.
"She said she was clean, I took her word for it. Now, I feel like I'm responsible for it," he said.
Josslyn drowned in a pond near her mother's home in Holt, Mo. around 9 p.m. Wednesday.
"Her mother and sister-in-law found her laying face first in the pond," said Joshua.
He said he didn't find out until around 11 p.m., when he got a voicemail from Josslyn's mother.
"So, I called her, and she said I don't even want to tell you, you're going to be mad. No emotion in her voice whatsoever," said Joshua.
The Clay County Sheriff's Department continues to investigate near the mother's home, but no charges have been filed yet.
