Just announced: Mary J. Blige will get the World Series party started when she performs our national anthem before Game One on Wednesday.

The game airs on Fox at 7:30 p.m. ET, from Fenway Park, home of the Boston Red Sox, who will be taking on the St. Louis Cardinals.

Mary J. Blige, who previously performed the Star Spangled Banner at Yankee Stadium during the 2009 World Series, recently released her first holiday album, A Mary Christmas, with producer David Foster.

Our last big national anthem story was the scandal that erupted in January when Beyonce "sang" at the presidential inauguration. Let's hope Mary J. Blige knocks it out of the park.
