JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. (KSDK) - Three winners have been announced in September's MOST 529 College Savings Month poster and essay contests.

State Treasurer Clint Zweifel recognized second grader Tiana He from St. Louis, fifth grader Sarah Quigley from Warrensburg, Mo. and seventh grader Laura Scoville from Columbia, Mo. for being awarded $529 contributions to their MOST-Missouri's 529 College Savings Plan accounts.

Contestants in kindergarten through fifth grade submitted a drawing showing what they want to be when they grow up. Students in sixth through eighth grade wrote essays explaining how higher education will help them achieve their goals.

The MOST-Missouri's 529 College Savings Plan has had a total of $2 billion invested in it to assist over 140,000 members with accounts. The money can be used for higher-education expenses such as tuition, books and certain room and board costs.
