CHESTERFIELD, Mo. (KSDK) - Shoppers arrived as early as 2 a.m. at the grand opening of St. Louis Premium Outlets Thursday. Lines began to form around stores at 5 a.m. as shoppers sought to gain advantageous positions in their quest to secure opening weekend deals.
The outlets are a venture of Simon Property Group, Inc. and Woodmont Outlets. Stores include Coach, Vera Bradley, Nike Factory Store, Under Armour, Michael Kors and Osh Kosh B'Gosh.
"...we anticipate a great opening weekend," John Klein, president of Simon's Premium Outlets Division, said in a news release. "Our retailers are thrilled with the interest we're seeing from the St. Louis community."
A fireworks display will take place at the outlets on Saturday at 9 p.m., and there will be autograph sessions at Wilsons Leather by St. Louis Cardinals manager Mike Matheny (Aug. 23, 11 a.m. to 12 p.m.) and players Matt Carpenter and Trevor Rosenthal (Aug. 24, 11 a.m. to 12 p.m.).
Simon Property Group currently owns or has an interest in 326 retail estate properties in North American and Asia, comprising 241 square feet. The company owns 80 premium outlet centers, including 65 in the U.S.
