St. Louis (KSDK) - St. Louis police are asking for help from the public to solve an eight-month-old murder case.

James Clavin, 34, wasshot to death in Soulard on January 26, 2012. Police were called to the 1500 block of 8th Street near Carroll around 2:40 a.m. and found Clavin on the ground with gunshot wounds to the chest and groin.

Clavin was transported to an area hospital where he was pronounced dead.

A resident of the Soulard Market Loft Apartments said he heard six to eight gunshots fired. He looked outside to see a crowd disperse and a man on the sidewalk.

A spokesperson for the St. Louis Metropolitan Police Department says investigators still do not have much to go on in the case. Witnesses have even disagreed on the race of the suspect.

Surveillance tapes from the area have been reviewed and authorities have been unable to identify a suspect.

Clavin appears to have been an innocent victim. He was not involved in any disputes inside or outside of any bars that evening.
