WHEATON, Ill. (AP) - Prosecutors contend a suburban Chicago woman stabbed her 7-year-old son 100 times because she was angry with her husband and a 5-year-old girl about 50 times because she witnessed the attack.
DuPage County State's Attorney Robert Berlin says Elzbieta Plackowska of Naperville had the children kneel and pray before Tuesday's attack. Berlin says she killed them as they begged for their lives.
A judge ordered Plackowska held without bond today. She didn't speak during the hearing other than to indicate she couldn't afford an attorney. The judge appointed a public defender.
Berlin says Plackowska told investigators several stories, at first blaming the deaths on a stalker.
He says she eventually admitted she was angry that her truck driver husband is often gone, leaving her alone to care for her son and work as a maid. Berlin says she felt that was beneath her.
