Clayton, MO (KSDK) - Concurrent 22 year prison terms is the punishment for a man who pleaded guilty in September to charges related to the death of a three year old boy.

Zachary Cook, 23 of Florissant, admitted to felony charges of second degree murder and abuse of a child resulting in the death of young Austin Vietor.

Judge Thomas De Priest ordered Cook to serve 22 years behind bars on each of the two crimes, with the sentences to run together.

Authorities say they arrived at the Cook home and found the little boy with severe head injuries, suffered after Cook became frustrated with the child and began to shake the boy. Cook then threw the youngster to the floor.

Austin was transported to a hospital where he died from extensive injuries several days later.

Cook could have received a life prison term.
