FLORISSANT, Mo. (KSDK) - A student suffered non-life threatening stab wound Tuesday afternoon just before classes ended at Hazelwood Central High School.

According to an email sent to parents by Principal Dr. Ceryol Mitchell, the student was treated at the school and taken to a local hospital.

The student with the knife was arrested. He will be disciplined in accordance with the school's behavior guide.

The school determined the two students were friends and were playing around when one student pretended to poke the other with the handle of the knife but instead cut him.

Hazelwood Central High School was placed on lockdown during the investigation.
