ST. LOUIS (KSDK) - With as much as an inch of additional rainfall expected to fall in the St. Louis-region Tuesday, some people may be concerned about a secondary crest on the rivers.
NewsChannel 5 Meteorologist Bree Smith said the new rain will not increase flood levels. She said the rain Tuesday may just keep the water higher longer, but it will not make the rivers crest higher.
River levelsbecame unstabile Sunday when an upstream levee broke sending more water toward Clarksville.
Since then, volunteers have been scrambling to add more sand bags and triple the levee's width at the weakest points.
The river there is three feet from its highest level ever.
