CHESTERFIELD, Mo. (KSDK) - A private plane landed on its belly at Spirit of St. Louis Airport in Chesterfield Wednesday morning.
The landing happened at 7:50 a.m.
The pilot of a 1980 Centurian P210 safely landed the plane with the landing gear up.
The Monarch Fire Protection District said the plane had 80 gallons of fuel on board, so every precaution was taken to prevent a fire. After safely landing the plane, the pilot shut off all electric and fuel on the aircraft before exiting the cabin.
There is damage to the belly of the plane and the propeller.
No one was injured in the landing.
The FAA is investigating to see if the landing gear malfunctioned or if it was user error.
