EAST ST. LOUIS, Ill. (KSDK) - A veteran Metro East detective is behind bars. The FBI took Detective Orlando Ward into custody Tuesday night.

At this point, the officials with the FBI won't say why they arrested Ward. All they will say is that the investigation is ongoing.

Ward has worked for the East St. Louis Police Department for about 10 years and has been with the Major Case Squad of Greater St. Louis since 2008.

Ward's colleagues describe him as intelligent, diligent, and well respected. In fact, he received several awards for his work as an East St. Louis detective.

Mayor Alvin Parks says when he found out about the news he was curious as to why Ward was arrested and disappointed.
