ST. LOUIS (KSDK) - Funeral arrangements have been finalized for a boyhit and killed by a car Thursday night.

Nine-year-old Lonnie Avent of Affton was playing footballin a lot with about20 children in the neighborhood.He was inthe connectingalley behind the 4900 block of Alcott in the Walnut Park neighborhood around 7:30 p.m. when police say he was hit by a car.

The 33-year-old driver stopped and called 911. Police say that person is cooperating with authorities.

The boy died a few hours later.

His family describes Avent as good student, who always smiled. He dreamed of becoming a professional race car driver.

Avent's visitation will be held at Kutis Funeral Home on Gravois from 3 p.m. until 9 p.m. Friday, May 17. His funeral will be at Kutis the following day at 11 a.m.

In lieu of flowers, family is asking for donations to help pay for the cost of the funeral. Donations can be made to Kutis Funeral Home under Lonnie Avent's name.
