ST. LOUIS (KSDK) - This weekend St. Louis is playing host to a family reunion like no other. The organizers are looking to meet total strangers who may be blood relatives.

Through DNA testing Vy Higginsen, a black theater producer from Harlem New York, found out she's related to Marion West, a white cattle rancher from Poplar Bluff, Mo. Their lineage goes back to the British settlers in Colonial Jamestown.

It turns out they're both part of a bigger group of people trying to connect with "DNA cousins" across the country.

Higginsen and West want to add missing branches to their family tree and they think they might get lucky here in St. Louis.

"I understand there are a ton of Wests in St. Louis and we want to invite those people with the surname West to take a DNA test and show information that they may have that will answer this big question of who we are," said Higginsen.

If you're a West and are interested in taking part, head to the Renaissance Saint Louis Airport Hotel between Friday and Sunday. You can also contact Vy Higginsen at 212-280-1045 or by email at
