ST. LOUIS (KSDK) - A dog found in north St. Louis City with severe burns died Friday.

The dog, recently named Brownie, was found anchored to a chain in the 4300 block of Cote Brilliante Avenue with burns covering his eyes, nose, feet, ears, legs and body. Brownie had been recovering at the Veterinary Specialty Services prior to his death.

The Animal Cruelty Task Force is offering a cash reward for information on the persons responsible for this abuse.

No arrests have been made and the investigation remains ongoing.

Stray Rescue is asking for donations to The Stracks Fund, their emergency medical fund meant to help dogs like Brownie. Stray Rescue reminds citizens that St. Louis City also has an ordinance regarding the tethering of dogs.

Stray Rescue of St. Louis says since October 1, 2012 over 100 cases of animal abuse have been investigated, 22 arrests have been made, and more than 200 animal control citations have been issued.
