ST. LOUIS (KSDK) - The former Cardinal whoclaimed to have inside information that Albert Pujols used steroids has hired a Attorney Chet Pleban to defend himself from any litigation initiated by Pujols.
"I stand by my previous remarks regarding Pujols and will rigorously defend any lawsuit that he chooses to file," Jack Clark said in a news release. "Litigation is an intense fact-finding process and I welcome the opportunity for a jury of 12 unbiased people to judge the credibility of my comments."
Clark - who hasn't been part of Major League Baseball since the early 2000s when he was a hitting coach for the Los Angeles Dodgers - made the accusations during his first week of co-hosting a radio show on WGNU.
"I know for a fact he was [using PEDs]," Clark said on the show. "The trainer that worked with him, threw him batting practice from Kansas City, that worked him out every day, basically told me that's what he did."
In wake of the accusations, Pujols issued a statementsaying that he has never used steroids and is in the process of hiring legal representation to take on Clark and WGNU 920 a.m.
"I'm going to send a message that you cannot act in a reckless manner, like they have, and get away with it" Pujols said in a statement. "If I have to be the athlete to carry the torch and pave the way for other innocent playerse to see that you can do something about it, I am proud to be that person."
