Crestwood (KSDK)--Scary moments for some diners in Crestwood on Sunday afternoon.

A car ran into the King Edward's Chicken & Fish Restaurant on Watson Road.

David Singer was inside the restaurant when the crash happened. He was standing at the counter out of harm's way. Not everyone was so lucky.

"There was a gentleman in the front right hand corner who was on the ground and said that he had thought he'd broken his ankle and there was a couple in the back corner who were pinned in by all the chairs and tables," Singer said.

Two people were taken to hospitals with broken bones, cuts and scrapes.

The cause of the crash is under investigation, but Singer says the driver apologized saying she thought she hit the brake instead of the gas.
