WASHINGTON PARK, Ill. (AP) -
Authorities in southwestern Illinois have identified the charred remains of a body found over the weekend in a car trunk.
The body of 30-year-old Demarco L. Fossett was found Saturday night in Washington Park. Illinois State Police released a statement Tuesday saying Fossett's death was a homicide.
Police say a neighbor saw the car fire and called 911.
The body was discovered when a firefighter noticed what appeared to be a bone, forced open the trunk and found the charred remains.
Authorities are asking the public to provide information that might help in the investigation.
