ST. LOUIS (KSDK) - The St. Louis Gospel Choral Union is celebrating 80 years in the African-American church community.

A local convention is set for this weekend, and we were lucky enough to have more than one dozen members of the Choral Union in the NewsChannel 5 studios during First @ 4 Tuesday.

Sylvia Wright-Quigless, president and an award-winning gospel singer spoke about the events this weekend. Click the video player above to hear about where you can see the Choral Union sing, and to hear a sampling of what you will hear.

The public is invited to the Choral Union's "80 Years of Gospel Music" celebration, Friday, October 25 at 7 p.m. at the West Side M.B. Church, 4675 Page Boulevard, Saint Louis, 63113. A consecration service will be held Sunday, October 27 at the church at 4 p.m. The Chorus will also perform at that service.
