ST. LOUIS (KSDK) – Earlier this week we solicited fans on our Facebook page for Cardinals haikus. We had a good turnout.
Our very own Art Holliday has now gotten poetic, and penned his very own poem.
The Cardinal Way
By Art Holliday
It's taken generations
To perfect the Cardinal Way.
A blueprint for winning,
And winning, more winning
That borders on cliché.
The Cards grow them on the farm
Where baby birds learn to play.
They're taught Cardinal things;
What it takes to win rings,
What it takes is the Cardinal Way.
The goal is October baseball,
A message strongly conveyed.
Young players learn
You win what you earn,
Rule one of the Cardinal Way.
Philosophically hard to beat,
Cardinal history on display.
To preserve the Cardinal Way.
Three million attend baseball heaven
Because of the way the Cards play.
Heroes then heroes now,
Cardinal legends take a bow.
Thank you for the Cardinal Way.
"Go crazy" for the birds on the bat,
Hard nine every game, every day.
Cardinal Nation demands it,
Opponents can't stand it,
They envy the Cardinal Way.
