ST. LOUIS COUNTY (KSDK) – Charges have been filed against a man accused of a carjacking on the parking lot of a local hospital, and then robbing a credit union, leading police on a chase.

Robert C. Gusman, 34, is charged with two counts of first-degree robbery, armed criminal action, and resisting arrest by fleeing.

Just after 1 p.m. Thursday a carjacking was reported in the parking lot of St. Anthony's Medical Center. Gusman is accused of then driving to Arsenal Credit Union in the 4500 block of Lemay Ferry Road, where he handed a teller a note demanding money. He also implied he had a weapon.

Gusman then fled the credit union, driving north on Interstate 55 when he was spotted by a St. Louis County police officer just south of Bayless Avenue. He was taken into custody after a brief chase.

Police say the credit union teller gave an accurate description of both Gusman and the stolen vehicle after he left the scene.

Gusman was reported as a missing person by his mother Wednesday. She said she had not seen or heard from him since Oct. 17.

Bond is set at $100,000.
