ST. LOUIS (KSDK) - Sentencing was held Thursday for a St. Louis man who pleaded guilty last month to fatally stabbing a homeless person in a dispute over a bag of Cheetos.

David Lynn Scott, 51, was ordered to serve 23 years in the Missouri Department of Corrections for admitting to charges of second degree murder and armed criminal action in the September 2012 death of Roger Wilkes, 42.

Authorities say Wilkes was stabbed to death near the Convention Center MetroLink station in downtown St. Louis after an argument with Scott over the bag of snacks.

Scott was given a 20 year term on the murder conviction and three years in prison on the armed criminal action charge with the sentences to run consecutively.
