ST. LOUIS (KSDK) – Holiday shopping has started, and although the focus has been Black Friday, small businesses hope that consumers turn out Saturday.

Small Business Saturday is November 30 and several across the St. Louis area will be participating.

The American Express-based day, which started in 2010, celebrates the small businesses of communities across the country.

If you spend $10 or more using a registered American Express card at a qualifying location, the company will give you a one-time $10 credit on your monthly statement.

Last year, it's estimated that consumers spent $5.5 billion at local stores.

For a list of participating stores, check out American Express's Small Business Saturday website.
