ST. LOUIS (KSDK) – December 3, people across the St. Louis metropolitan area and the country will be doing their part for #GivingTuesday.

The day is dedicated to giving personal or financial resources to organizations that work to serve our communities. Google is even getting involved by hosting its first Hangout-a-thon.

On Facebook, several people said they would be giving back through donations to area organizations, such as the Bi-State Pet Food Pantry, Sparrow's Nest and St. Louis Crisis Nursery.

The American Red Cross in St. Louis is hosting a blood drive for donations, and St. Louis Area Food Bank has a chance for people to win a dinner for four at either Sub Zero Vodka Bar or Gamlin Whiskey House.

If you're looking for other suggestions, here are a few from Facebook fans and area Twitter followers who are participating in the day.
