MT. OLIVE, Ill. (KSDK) – Teachers in the Mt. Olive Community Unit School District could go on strike as early as Thursday after authorizing such action during a meeting Wednesday night.
"We all had hoped it would not come to this," local union president Marcia Schulte said in a news release. "…the Board of Education's demands for unnecessary 'take-backs' has forced teachers to strike."
Mt. Olive teachers have been working since August under expired contracts. Tension has arisen over a contractual retirement incentive and two-tier salary structure.
