KSDK – Sen. Claire McCaskill (D-Mo.) took to Twitter Thursday to react to a controversial news conference where Florida state attorney Willie Meggs announced that Jameis Winston was not going to be charged with sexual assault – an affair that many said was too lighthearted.

"As former prosecutor & advocate for rape victims, I'm disgusted at the frivolity of Meggs' press conference announcing no charges on Winston," McCaskill tweeted.

The news conference was supposed to be a definitive ending to the controversy surrounding Winston, a Florida State star who was accused of sexual assault and who will likely win the Heisman Trophy next week.

However, many have claimed that the laughter during the conference was inappropriate and uncalled for during an event discussing a rape investigation.
