ST. LOUIS (KSDK) – When winter weather hits, people aren't the only ones who should be concerned about the cold. Animals also have to safe from it.

Stray Rescue All Stars come out in full force to try and save dogs from the chilly dropping temperatures.

Stray Rescue Founder Randy Grim want people to understand that being responsible and taking dogs indoors can help save many of them. He said single-digit type weather can kill a dog.

"My goal is to make sure that none of these dogs on the streets come in like this during this cold spell," he said.

If you see a dog or pet out in the cold during this winter, you can call Stray Rescue at 314-771-6121to save them.

The organization also has a book, "Recipes to the Rescue," featuring recipes from local chefs and personalities, such as NewsChannel 5's Pat McGonigle and Ryan--or Dana—Dean that can help with the organization's efforts.
