ST. LOUIS – School officials in the unaccredited Riverview Gardens district will vote Tuesday night on a series of proposed budget cuts aimed at offsetting the $15 million in tuition and transportation costs associated with the school transfer program.

The plan may include freezing 15 unfilled positions, and not replacing those who leave. Right now, it does not include teacher layoffs.

The district may also outsource its transportation to save money.

About 2,200 students in the unaccredited Normandy and Riverview Gardens districts have opted to transfer to better-performing schools in wake of a Missouri Supreme Court ruling that upheld the state's school transfer law.
