ST. LOUIS COUNTY, Mo. (KSDK) – A St. Louis County neighborhood experienced a mandatory power outage Wednesday morning.

The outage began at 9:30 a.m. near Eureka for a mandatory transformer switch out, according to an Ameren spokesman. The mandate is a requirement by the Missouri Public Service.

According to the spokesman, Ameren decided that the best time to do it would be Wednesday morning opposed to waiting and being unsure of colder temperatures and precipitation.

The power is expected to be restored by 12:30 p.m.
