ST. LOUIS (KSDK) – Illinois Department of Transportation crews are out Saturday night pre-treating roads for the possibility of a re-freeze. Officials say most major roads are safe to travel, but caution drivers to be on the alert for black ice as temperatures continue to drop.

Illinois residents made the most of their Saturday snow day by getting outdoors to enjoy the snow and slightly warmer temperatures. Much of the snow turned to slush by mid-afternoon.
