ST. LOUIS (KSDK) – People across the St. Louis metropolitan area are some of the most active volunteers in the country, according to a new report released Monday.
The St. Louis region ranks No. 8 for volunteering in America, according to the Volunteering and Civic Life in America report released by the Corporation for National and Community Service. Missouri ranks No. 15.
According to the report, 32 percent of St. Louis area residents volunteered in 2012, which includes more than 70 million hours of service.
According to the report, volunteering is trending upward among Generation X, teenagers, older Americans and parents living with children under the age of 18.
Minneapolis-St. Paul region ranked No. 1 on the list followed by Rochester, NY for volunteer rates of large cities. Utah was No. 1 followed by Minnesota in volunteer rates by states.
