ST. LOUIS (KSDK) – A 22-year-old woman is charged with assaulting a family member's elementary school principal after he refused to release the student, citing to a school policy.

It happened at 2:50 p.m. Tuesday at Adams Elementary School, located at 1311 Tower Grove Avenue. Deirdre Rhodes tried to pick up a family member from school, but the victim refused to release the student due to a school policy, according to a news release.

After the principal asked Rhodes to vacate the premises, she allegedly physically assaulted him. He was taken to the hospital with minor injuries. There were no weapons involved.

Rhodes was detained by safety officers, who notified the department. The victim has only been identified as a 38-year-old man.
