HERCULANEUM, Mo. (KSDK) – No one was injured when a small fire broke out at a soon-to-be-closed sinter plant owned by Doe Run Company Metals.

The fire broke out at approximately 6:30 p.m., when employees discovered the fire and contacted authorities. The Herculaneum, Crystal City and Festus fire departments responded, and ultimately extinguished the fire.

It was attributed to the plant's impending closure.

Decommissioning activities will continue at the site for some time, according to a news release.
