ST. CHARLES COUNTY, Mo. (KSDK) - A patch of ice caused two separate accidents in St. Charles County on Thursday, leaving three people injured.

The first accident happened at around 1 p.m. Thursday, when a woman who was driving her vehicle westbound on Highway 40/61 hit a patch of ice and skidded off the roadway, landing in an embankment right by Technology Drive. The driver was not injured.

While officers tried to help her, a second vehicle hit that same patch of ice, flipping over in the process and ejecting one passenger. That person was airlifted to a local hospital, and the vehicle's two other occupants were transported by ambulance to an area hospital. There's no word yet on the extent of their injuries.

No additional information was immediately available.
