ST. LOUIS (KSDK) -City crews will be out in full force Monday night, removing truckloads of snow from downtown. Before the morning rush hour, the city says it wants to have all main roads passable.

As for the side streets, those will be a little harder to clean. With so much street parking, plows are not able to get in and clear the roads. If they tried, they'd block in hundreds of cars. But for the first time, the city is trying to make these streets more driveable. Today, crews were laying down salt and sand to give drivers traction. The effort is a direct response to feedback from city residents.

"We've noticed over recent years with the change in the city and all these young people coming in… a new group of people that are very enthusiastic about getting out and doing things are demanding that we do more on these side streets," said City Street Department Director Todd Waelterman.
