DECATUR, Ill. (AP) - Charges were filed against a Decatur man in the shooting his pregnant girlfriend and the fetus.

Justin Q. Buckley is being held in the Macon County Jail in lieu of $750,000 on attempted first-degree murder and attempted homicide of an unborn child charges in the Jan. 3 shooting of the unidentified 23-year-old woman and the eight-month-old fetus.

The Decatur Herald & Review reportsthe woman is hospitalized in serious condition and baby, born prematurely, is in good condition.

Decatur Police Detective Joe Patton says Buckley told authorities he found his girlfriend covered with blood and walking along a street. Patton says Buckley confessed to the shootings after being confronted with evidence he and the victim argued about his alleged infidelity.

It wasn't immediately known if Buckley has legal counsel.
