ST. LOUIS (KSDK) – A 25-year-old man and 22-year-old woman are in custody after a 3-year-old boy was died by blunt force trauma.

Charges will be sought Saturday morning.

The city's homicide and child abuse units responded to the 5600 block of Kingsbury Thursday morning for a sick case. Three-year-old Dashon Haskin was not breathing, and was later pronounced dead at an area hospital.

An ensuing autopsy revealed that the cause of death was a blunt force trauma.

The St. Louis Crisis Nursery released this reaction to Haskin's death:

"While the investigation is in progress, we want to the community to know that Saint Louis Crisis Nursery services are available 24-hours-a-day and FREE. Our professionally trained staff is willing and ready to counsel parents and caregivers when they become overwhelmed or are faced with other life-challenges. We must work together as a community to ensure the safety and future of our children."
