OSWEGO, Ill. (KSDK) – An Illinois Boy Scout is being called a hero after he rescued another child from an icy pond.
It happened on Tuesday at a housing development in Oswego, Ill. Zac Thomas, 14, happened to be nearby when a fourth grader fell through the ice and was crying for help.
"I ran down there, and I stood on the grass and I reached out and I grabbed his hand and I pulled him out," he said.
Zac says he's thankful all of his Boy Scout's training prepared him for the emergency.
It's still not clear why the young boy got so close to the pond in the first place. Thankfully, he's expected to be ok.
