EAST ST. LOUIS, Ill. (KSDK) – It was a day of second chances for the crowd of people who filed into the East St. Louis municipal building Saturday.

They stood in line in hopes of clearing up warrants on misdemeanor offenses – like traffic and MetroLink violations.

It was all part of Clean Slate Day. The cases weren't all thrown out – some were sent back to court.

"We are giving them an opportunity to get back on track, wherever that case was when the warrant was issued, they got a chance to get back on track," judge Zina Cruise said.

Judges and representatives from the St. Clair County State Attorney's office, the circuit clerk's office and St. Clair County Sheriff's Department teamed up for the effort.
